Types Of Family Caravans That Can Be
Used For Family Expeditions
Although travelling with the whole family in tow can be a rewarding experience, it can be pretty stressful, too. This problem is compounded when you decide that you would like to travel via caravan, as you need to ensure that you have enough room for everyone. The good news is that there are plenty of family caravans on the market, so you should be able to find one that meets all of your needs without much difficulty. We’ve outlined our 4 models here:
Our base model is a family favourite, as it’s packed with all of the essentials without the huge price tag. Depending on what floor plan you have selected, the dinette can be turned into an additional bed (although the 2100 CTB does come with bunks). Every model comes fully equipped with a bathroom, including a toilet, vanity and shower. There’s also a full kitchen, allowing you to prepare family meals.
This model has been designed completely based on customer feedback, which ensures it will meet the needs of most families. There is ample storage, which is a must when travelling with a large number of people, and the bathroom also includes a washing machine for those longer expeditions when washing is otherwise difficult. As with most family caravans, the dinette can be turned into an additional bed.
• Base Camp
If your family is more adventurous, this could be the caravan for you. It has been designed to withstand more rugged terrain and also features a rear garage (with ramp) to house any toys that you might like to bring along with you. We’ve also seen this space turn into a kid’s playroom or home office – the options are endless! The 2460 BC2 comes with bunk beds, whilst the dinette in both models can be turned into an extra bed.
If you want a little more space and luxury, the Spirit caravan will meet your needs perfectly. Some floor plans feature our signature slide out, which sees the back of the dinette slid out once you’ve found the perfect campsite. The dinette can be turned into an additional bed if required. The exterior of the van also features a pull out BBQ, which is perfect for those summer nights when it’s too hot to cook indoors.
What should you be looking for in a family caravan?
There are a number of features that make a caravan better suited to family travel than others. One such feature is full size appliances – many vans are fitted with smaller versions, which aren’t always capable of meeting the demands of an entire family. Another feature is laundry facilities, which other vans rarely offer, particularly if you plan to travel for extended periods. Finally, an ensuite bathroom is also appreciated so you don’t have to venture out at night.
If you’re in the market for a family caravan for an upcoming expedition, we hope that the information provided above has enabled you to choose one that ticks all of your boxes. Whether you have young children or your kids are all grown and have families of their own, there are a variety of floor plans to choose from to ensure that there is space for everyone.
