Sony Life Space UX Presents  Wanted Interiors "Creative Life Space" During NYC Design Week

This year, during NYCxDESIGN, New York City’s official celebration of design, Sony Life Space UX teamed up with WantedDesign to create Wanted Interiors “Creative Life Space”, a product showcase and entertainment space at the landmark Terminal Stores building on 11th Avenue in West Chelsea. 

In conjunction with Sony’s Life Space UX, this activation was conceptualized and designed by students from Pratt Institute’s School of Design, headed by Professor Jon Otis and in collaboration with Barry Richards, Principal, Rockwell Group and Wanted Design. The pop up installation featured cutting edge products from Sony Life Space UX, Alpi, Ligne Roset, Alcantara and Fontana Arte.

The Pratt students drew design inspiration from six NYC artisans located across the five boroughs. Using products from Life Space UX, they created an environment focused on design that bridged the gap between work and home life. Each item featured, whether it was tech, decor, furniture or beyond was meant to bring to life the concept of a Creative Life Space.

One of the elements interwoven throughout the Creative Life Space was various forms of new media featuring sound bites of interviews, video footage and imagery from each of the six NYC artists. The new media was piped through Sony Life Space UX products including the Glass Sound Speaker, LED Bulb Speaker and Throw Projector. 

A hallmark design element that received a lot of attention was a handmade map of NYC’s five boroughs. Each borough was represented by an LED Bulb Speaker that illuminated a different color and played a specialized soundtrack sharing interviews and quotes from the artists.

Additionally, Life Space UX Throw Projectors were also staged throughout the space and each was set to loop video footage showcasing the NYC creatives at work and play. 

From the initial renderings to the finished product, Pratt worked with the Life Space UX and the WantedDesign teams on every aspect of the build out to insure that the original concept was brought to life.
