Sony Story of the Month: Contest Terms & conditions

  • Contest open to all Sony enthusiasts (amateur or professional) over 18 years of age, except employees of Sony and Maker.
  • At the end of the contest, one story will be named as the winner, based on the most viewed story for that month. Winner will receive a Sony RX100 V camera.
  • The opening date and time of the first monthly contest is 5/12/17 at 12:01 am PST and ends 5/31/17 at 11:59 pm PST. Each subsequent monthly contest starts at the 1st of each month at 12.01am PST and the closing date and time of each monthly contest is the last day of each month at 11.59pm PST. You may submit your story at any time, however, only stories and story views during a given month will be considered for that month's contest . Views received outside of this time period will not be considered as entry for that specific monthly contest. Sony and Maker reserve the right in its absolute discretion to extend the closing date where the entries received are of insufficient quality.
  • Sony and Maker, at their discretion, may choose to feature certain stories entered into the contest. Writers of featured stories consent to the use of their image, name and/or photograph in any publicity carried out by Sony and Maker, without further compensation.
  • Winners will be contacted by Maker after the end of the contest.
  • We reserve the right, at our discretion, to disqualify or discount any entrant, story or views connected to views by unfair means.
  • Contest winners are not eligible to win again for subsequent 12 months.
  • The winning story will be featured on Sony.com/stories after the contest has closed. Prize is non-transferable.
  • Stories featured by Sony in their email will not be eligible for the contest due to the higher views generated for those stories.
  • To enter, upload the story via the Maker Story Editor on the website at www.sony.com/stories by the closing date specified within the contest. Provide us with complete and accurate registration information.
  • Photos in the story should be submitted as jpgs and ideally less than 20MB in file size.
  • Maximum 20 entries per person per contest. Please do not post any photographs or content that are obscene, vulgar, pornographic, hateful, threatening, racist, sexist, discriminatory, or which otherwise violate any local or international laws.
  • Each story can only be entered once. Duplicates will be removed.
  • The photos and videos in the story must be captured using Sony camera and/or lenses.
  • You must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of all images entered. You have not licensed any rights in the work that will conflict with the usage rights required by Sony or Maker. If Sony or Maker has reason to believe your entry is not your own work or otherwise breaches these Terms and Conditions, then we may not consider it and may disqualify it.
  • Source material or proof of permission to use must be made available on request by Maker.
  • Maker and Sony do not accept any liability for the publication of unlawfully reproduced images. You will be responsible for any claim made by any third party in respect of your entry and to fully indemnify Sony or Maker in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person or entity by reason of your breaching any of the foregoing.
  • By entering your story and photos, you grant Maker and Sony the non-exclusive right to reproduce, republish, edit and/or modify your contest entry for any purpose at any time in any media with attribution. For example, we may use your images in emails or or www.sony.com. Failure to publish a credit due to error or oversight shall not be deemed a breach of this condition.
  • The winners consent to the use of their image, name and/or photograph in any publicity carried out by Sony and Maker, without further compensation.
  • Maker and Sony assume no responsibility and are not liable for any image misuse by third parties.
  • Sony and Maker’s decision on all matters relating to the contest is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
  • Sony and Maker reserve the right to cancel or amend the contest or the terms at any time without prior notice. It is your responsibility to ensure you stay informed and up to date with our terms so you are advised to read this page before entering this and or future contests.   • Sony and Maker accept no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of entering the contest or accepting any prize. Sony and Maker further disclaim liability for any injury or damage to you or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the contest.
  • Sony and Maker shall not be liable for any failure to comply with their obligations relating to this contest where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.
  • The Contest and these terms and conditions will be governed by US law. You agree that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in California. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, your rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of California or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than California.
  • Entrants into the Contest shall be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.
