Hawaiian Sunrise

The best shots are often ones we least expect. I didn't expect much from the cloud filled skies the morning of, but I waited to see if things would change. As I thought, the clouds covered the sun as it rose from the horizon. There was a gap between the clouds directly above where the sun rose. I waited.. and waited.. and waited until the sun hovered past the gap, creating an amazing silhouette of the palms trees on the edge of the cliff in conjunction with the steam from the sulfur banks of Kīlauea.
